Our dedicated team of industrial medics is made up of primary care paramedics, emergency medical responders, and first aid attendants.

The primary role of these positions on any job site is to provide immediate medical response and care in the event of workplace incidents, injuries, or illnesses.

Roles and Responsibilities

An industrial medic’s tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining all current tickets, including:
    • H2S
    • First Aid
    • CPR
    • TDG
    • WHMIS
    • Provincial Governing Body Registration
  • Providing emergency medical services to workers;
  • Joining daily safety meetings;
  • Being on medical standby, should an incident occur;
  • Maintaining and organizing medical equipment, vehicles, and treatment areas;
  • Documenting headcount on location as well as occasional client-requested paperwork;
  • Following company work procedures;
  • Following safe work practices;
  • Maintaining knowledge of anatomy and physiology;
  • Maintaining skills through regular self-guided study and skill stations.

Physical Requirements

Due to the nature of the position, industrial medics must:

  • Possess and maintain a reasonable level of fitness;
  • Be able to work long hours, work many consecutive shifts, both day and night shift;
  • Have normal colour vision, as many safety systems are colour-coded.

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (class 5) and current (within three months) clean driver abstract;
  • Possess a valid EGSO certificate (enform);
  • Possess a valid H2S certificate;
  • Possess a valid Advanced First Aid certificate;
  • Possess a valid WHMIS certificate (we can provide this training if needed);
  • Possess a valid TDG certificate (we can provide this training if needed);
  • Possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate;
  • Possess Current Provincial Governing Body Registration.

Additionally, industrial medic candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as this is a safety-sensitive position.

Role and Responsibilities

The OFA 3 Medic’s main role on location is to provide emergency response to crews in the event of an injury, illness or emergency situation. The Industrial First Aid Attendant’s tasks include, but not limited to:
  • Maintaining all current tickets – i.e. H2S, First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS, Provincial Governing Body Registration;
  • Keeping up with all protocols of Advanced First Aid;
  • Obeying and following first aid protocols set out by ruling government agencies;
  • Collecting and maintaining confidential information – i.e. all pertinent patient medical information;
  • Providing First Aid to workers when injured or ill, within your scope of practice (OFA3, EMR, PCP);
  • Making transport decision of injured worker to health care facility;
  • Familiarizing oneself with WCB documentation, OH&S regulations and all pertinent first aid reports;
  • Maintaining proper head count of personnel on location;
  • Being an active participant in all safety meetings;
  • Ensure that all personnel on location have proper documentation;
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules;
  • Operating company vehicles and using company equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

We are always on the lookout for independent, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to add to our staff of emergency medical personnel
  • Provide medical care in accordance with Trojan safety medical protocols
  • Provide medical care within the scope of practice
  • Represent Trojan safety in a positive and professional manner
  • Be able to effectively handle and respond to stressful/emergency situation
  • Coordinate STARS site if needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of all equipment
  • Adhere to Trojan Safety Services Ltd Safe Work Practices and Hazard ID Procedures
