The primary role of firefighters in remote areas of Alberta is to provide fire rescue services for emergency situations ranging from uncontrolled industrial fires to hazardous material spills. These on-call firefighters operate far from urban centres and are the first line of defence against fires that threaten lives, landscapes, and industrial facilities in remote communities.
