Job Description

We are looking for skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Responders in BC to provide emergency services within industrial settings. As an EMR, you will provide essential emergency health services, maintain vital equipment, and ensure a secure environment for all personnel. Roles and Responsibilities

As an Emergency Medical Responder in BC, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining all current certifications, including:
  • Provincial Governing Body Registration;
  • Adhering to all Advanced First Aid protocols;
  • Following first aid guidelines established by governing agencies;
  • Collecting and maintaining confidential information, such as patient records
  • Providing First Aid to injured or ill workers;
  • Making transportation decisions for injured workers to healthcare facilities;
  • Familiarizing yourself with OH&S regulations, WCB documentation, and relevant first aid reports;
  • Tracking personnel headcount on location;
  • Participating actively in all safety meetings;
  • Ensuring all personnel on location have proper documentation;
  • Following all health and safety protocols and rules;
  • Operating company vehicles and using company equipment safely and appropriately.

  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness;
  • Be capable of handling physical demands, including working in various weather conditions;
  • Be prepared to work extended hours when required;
  • Have normal colour vision, as many safety systems are colour-coded.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized EMR program and appropriate first aid training;
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) with a current (within three months) clean Driver’s Abstract;
  • Valid Electronic General Safety Orientation (EGSO) certification (enform);
  • Valid H2S certification;
  • Valid WHMIS certification (provided);
  • Valid TDG certification (provided);
  • Valid BLS certification;
  • Valid British Columbia EMR license;
  • Valid Provincial Governing Body Registration.

Because the job is safety-critical, candidates for the EMR role must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.

OFA/EMR Medic

Role and Responsibilities

The OFA 3 Medic’s main role on location is to provide emergency response to crews in the event of an injury, illness or emergency situation. The Industrial First Aid Attendant’s tasks include, but not limited to:
  • Maintaining all current tickets – i.e. H2S, First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS, Provincial Governing Body Registration;
  • Keeping up with all protocols of Advanced First Aid;
  • Obeying and following first aid protocols set out by ruling government agencies;
  • Collecting and maintaining confidential information – i.e. all pertinent patient medical information;
  • Providing First Aid to workers when injured or ill, within your scope of practice (OFA3, EMR, PCP);
  • Making transport decision of injured worker to health care facility;
  • Familiarizing oneself with WCB documentation, OH&S regulations and all pertinent first aid reports;
  • Maintaining proper head count of personnel on location;
  • Being an active participant in all safety meetings;
  • Ensure that all personnel on location have proper documentation;
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules;
  • Operating company vehicles and using company equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

Industrial First Aid Attendants will be working in close proximity to crews and must maintain an air of “friendly professionalism”. They must also show the following character traits:

  • Remaining calm in emergencies;
  • Ability to direct workers in the event of a medical emergency;

We are always on the lookout for independent, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to add to our staff of emergency medical personnel
  • Provide medical care in accordance with Trojan safety medical protocols
  • Provide medical care within the scope of practice
  • Represent Trojan safety in a positive and professional manner
  • Be able to effectively handle and respond to stressful/emergency situation
  • Coordinate STARS site if needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of all equipment
  • Adhere to Trojan Safety Services Ltd Safe Work Practices and Hazard ID Procedures

  • Fill out daily paperwork (Safety meeting with head count, daily operation reports, hazard identification, service tickets, accident/incident if applicable)
