Job Description

Successful candidates for our first aid attendant jobs in Fort St. John are vital in delivering emergency response and first aid support to industrial crews. You will be equipped with advanced equipment and work alongside leading professionals to uphold the highest standards of care.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of first aid attendants in BC will include:

  • Collecting and securely maintaining confidential patient medical information
  • Administering First Aid assistance to workers within your scope of practice (First Aid – Advanced, EMR, PCP)
  • Deciding on the transport of injured workers to healthcare facilities
  • Familiarizing yourself with WCB documentation, OH&S regulations, and all relevant first aid reports
  • Accurately maintaining headcount of personnel on location
  • Actively participating in all safety meetings
  • Ensuring all personnel on site have the necessary documentation
  • Complying with all Health and Safety requirements
  • Operating company vehicles and using company equipment safely and appropriately

  • Possess normal color vision, as many safety systems are color-coded

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (class 5) and current (within three months) clean driver abstract
  • Possess valid First Aid – Advanced certification
  • Possess valid EGSO (enform)
  • Possess valid H2S
  • Possess valid WHMIS (we can provide this training if needed)
  • Possess valid TDG (we can provide this training if needed)
  • Possess valid BLS
  • Possess Current Provincial Governing Body Registration

This safety-sensitive position requires successful candidates to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Industrial First Aid Attendant’s main role on location is to provide emergency response to crews in the event of an injury, illness or emergency situation. The Industrial First Aid Attendant’s tasks include, but not  limited to:
  • Maintaining all current tickets - i.e. H2S, First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS, Provincial Governing Body Registration;
  • Keeping up with all protocols of Advanced First Aid;
  • Obeying and following first aid protocols set out by ruling government agencies;
  • Collecting and maintaining confidential information - i.e.: all pertinent patient medical information;
  • Providing First Aid to workers when injured or ill, within your scope of practice (OFA3, EMR, PCP);
  • Making transport decision of injured worker to health care facility;
  • Familiarizing oneself with WCB documentation, OH&S regulations and all pertinent first aid reports;
  • Maintaining proper head count of personnel on location;
  • Being an active participant in all safety meetings;
  • Ensure that all personnel on location have proper documentation;
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules;
  • Operating company vehicles and using company equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

Character Traits

Industrial First Aid Attendants will be working in close proximity to crews and must maintain an air of  “friendly professionalism”. They must also show the following character traits:

  • Being extremely safety conscious;
  • Remaining calm in emergencies;
  • Ability to direct workers in the event of a medical emergency;

Due to the nature of the position, an Industrial First Aid Attendant must:
  • Posses and maintain a reasonable level of fitness;
  • Be able to work long hours, work many consecutive shifts both day and night shift;
  • Be able to work several consecutive shifts, both day and night shifts;
  • Have good observational skills;
  • Have normal color vision as many safety systems are color code.
