News: Infrared Gas Monitoring - April 2009

Trojan Safety is now offering Infrared Camera services for the upstream petroleum and gas industry.

Infrared technology allows us to inspect what used to take days into a matter of hours. This means it is more cost effective, as well as producing superior results compared to other current technologies.

The GasFindIR has the ability to scan many components simultaneously, with no interruption of production.

Applications of this camera are vast and range from facilities and pipelines, right down to compressor stations and wellheads. The camera uses several filters to tune it to a specific wavelength. In this spectrum, many of the common gases we encounter in the industry become opaque to infrared energy; this allows us to see the gas cloud moving, because of the energy differential between the gas and the background. Giving us the ability to pinpoint a very small leak, as well as diagnose faulty or worn components. Using this technology, we can scan a potentially hazardous area before entry, ensuring operator and employee safety.

The camera is equipped with a 25mm interchangeable lens, with optional 50mm and 100mm lenses respectively for different applications.
